So I saw the new Lincoln MKX and I got to say, I like it a lot.

There I said it.

I think this is a nice looking car, I'm glad Lincoln is going in this new direction because they are producing some of the finest looking cars on the market, and from what I've read, some of the most comfortable as well. If this thing sells and it sells well, I think Lincoln has a bright future. Maybe because of this thing we might get that rear wheel drive sedan that everyone keeps harping on about.

I think Lincoln's aesthetic direction has a lot of potential, it's just getting let down by Ford trying to cram it onto Ford cars.

It'll always have to be crammed on Ford products, but for what it is, they're doing a good job of it.

I honestly love them.

2.3L EcoBoost AWD fucking moves, too.

I wouldn't even approach the belief that they're making some of the finest in the entire market. But their design approach is definitely not the worst. I believe that title still belongs to Acura.

It does look really good. I'm not sure I would choose it over an RX just yet though...

Every other luxury maker seems to have something or other that doesn't look right in my eyes, whether its grills that are too large, or way too much chrome that makes it looked blinged out, there's always something that gets me. I guess I should've said "Finest looking cars on the market in MY opinion."

Seems like the hood is too high and flat, and the rest of the vehicle is too close to MKC's styling.

Both being 5-door-5-seat CUVs... the only thing to differentiate them is size and styling cues...

If the styling cues are the same, and the size isn't too different, they are going to be hard to tell apart... the MKC might be slightly shorter in length, but for being "compact", it isn't all that small.

I liked MKX for it's clean sleekness before... the blunt front end, and higher, flatter hood line and the less rakish back end remove the sleekness.

I have a vehicle in this class, although not quite as lux-oriented... the Toyota Venza V6-AWD with nearly all of the options, which for a 5-seat (not 7/3-row) CUV is sleeker and lower than this, and also looks better than Lexus RX which is probably a closer competitor to MKX, in terms of finish and amenities, although the fully-loaded Venza is nicely equipped.

Just because I like and use the cargo space in the main daily/road trip vehicle, doesn't mean I want it to be completely brick-shaped, or just plain odd-looking like RX. There has to be some kind of middle ground between a rectangle, and cars like CrossTour and the BMW/Merc fastback-5-door CUVs that have no vertical cargo room.

I love fastbacks.... on actual 3-door Coupes... with 5-doors, might as well have *some* cubic footage for bulky cargo... yet nobody makes a cool, slick 3-door fastback actual-coupe AWD runabout/rally car, save perhaps the Range Rover Evoque Coupe, or the MINI Paceman, which aren't fastbacks, and the MINI barely qualifies as AWD.

MKX used to be the other good looking 5-door CUV, even better than the body-shared Ford Edge.... and while it doesn't look terrible now, it just isn't as cool and slick as the outgoing model. Not many other CUVs actually look decent.

I'll admit it looks way too much like the current MKC, if Lincoln can find a way to differentiate the two cars without sacrificing the new look, then it'll be a homerun, but as it stands I still like it, but even I can't differentiate this car between its smaller newer brother.

That is just it... without a ruler to measure the back end of the MKX being longer... and maybe slightly wider... they look EXTREMELY similar.

Not just family resemblance, but fraternal-twin kind of similar.

How much of a premium do you pay to get the Lincoln?

I don't think so. Just because a platform exists, doesn't mean it has to be used exactly the same way between divisions. Cadillac and Chevrolet aren't using Alpha the same way, for example.
